In a previous article, I spoke on the importance of diversity in Black entertainment. Netflix released a trailer of a Netflix original movie with a predominantly black cast, the setting to be Western has a predominantly Black cast as I mentioned above, and most of the cast are superstars in their own right.
This film stars Regina King, Idris Alba, Jonathan Majors, Lakeith Stanfield, Delroy Lindo, and Zazie Beetz. Each of them has starred in another tv show with a predominately black cast. With the exception of a few. So you could say these Stars could be today’s representatives of Black Cinema.
From the trailer, it seems as though the cast is altogether in some sort of Western-style gang in the old west. From my understanding, we haven’t seen a Black Western with a majority black cast since Django Unchained. Needless to say, fans of that 2012 film should be very excited.
This film is named “The Harder they fall”, is set for a 2021 release date. The acting talents of this cast alone, that make this film a must-see. So grab yourself a seat and prepare for this star-studded Western rollercoaster. I can tell it won’t disappoint.
