I will admit I have never actually read the original book series, so this review is solely based upon the TV show. We must tip our hats to the showrunner Misha Green, and Producer Jordan Peele for this masterful reincarnation of a popular book series.

The story is perfectly crafted and is honestly all over the place. It includes many horror tropes and sci-fi themes such as ghosts, witches, magic, supernatural creatures, and time travel. Amazing performances by Jonathan Majors and Jurnee Smollett-Bell, every scene is brilliantly acted as if you were there. The fact that this a show with a largely black cast only heightens our excitement. The latest episode that captured the Tulsa Riots is a must-see, it captures the Horror that our ancestors endured during those times.

I believe this show is especially important for Black people to see an illustration of the suffering our people went through during the 1950’s Jim Crow America. That picture is painful to see but it is something that we must see. Our ancestors were extraordinarily strong, and we must appreciate them for all that they have endured. The creators of this show did an excellent job of crafting this series into a fan favorite especially among black people.

Many have asked if this show worth the watch. I can most certainly tell you that it is. The elements of love, horror, black history and supernatural occurrences all wrapped into one tv show is basically what Lovecraft Country is. I am definitely a fan and we’re hyped for the next episode. I must admit this show was on my radar several months ago when the trailer was released before COVID-19 hit, and I made a note to myself, it was a reminder to keep an eye out for this show.

What will the next episode entail? The unpredictability is another reason why this show is so great, and it has us on the edge of our seats with every scene. The show is a must-see.
